Digital Counters are those devices in the
electrical and electronic components industry that incorporates digital technology in storing the number of times a particular event or process has occurred, often in relationship to a clock signal. This category is an important one in the counters segment and works on the simple methodology of register-type circuit protection devices, for example flip flop. These
counters are digital in nature and calculate in binary forms.
The technological advancements in the electronic and electric industry had not left this segment bereaved. Digital
Electric counters too are evolving with time to keep abreast with the technological advancements. This article talks about one of the recent additions in this segment – Dual Display Digital Counters.
Today the market is flooded with a wide range of
micro controllers based digital counters, that enjoy a wide application in many industries all over the world. Known as the dual display digital counters, they are known for their ability to continuously show their preset values. Indicated at the bottom display, they have a six digit preset count wherein the upper display is for current input pulses.
These
electronic equipment can be operated in two ways, i.e. manual mode and auto reset mode. Used for up counting as well as down counting, in the auto reset mode the timing for switching the counter off or on is done mechanically by adjusting the timing. This is not possible in the case of manual mode. This type of digital counter has the advantage of simple usage. One needs to get a access to the front panel switches to select the specific facility.
The preset value of the digital counter invokes visible target figure by displaying it in front of the user, thus aiding the user to complete the work on time. The counter feeds input via limit/micro switches or infrared/proximity switches and free relay counters are used to avail the output for the same. Having a dimension of 96 x 96 x 110 mm using 12 V DC or 24 V DC or 220 V AC or 110 V AC voltages, these digital counters are fused with the ability to relay change as soon as the preset value is reached by the component.
Available in 6-digit or 4-digit models these
automatic counters are even capable of storing data irrespective whether the power is on or off. A wide application that assists it in being used in almost every industry is also a big advantage of this devices in the counters segment of electrical and electronic component.
